Proof of Authority consensus uses a federation of nodes which are each authorized by a central authority to participate. Proof of Participation keeps the strengths of a federated model, but decentralizes the authorization process so that it is not under the control of any one authority. In this video, our Co-founder and CTO, Barton Johnston, explains to you the following:

  • What are the key limitations of Proof of Authority and how does Proof of Participation address them?
  • What measures have been taken when designing Proof of Participation to ensure complete decentralization?
  • What makes Proof of Participation more suitable for non-financial use cases than Proof of Authority?
